Tom Roberts Prize 2008
About the Tom Roberts Prize
The Tom Roberts Prize for Creative Achievement in the Humanities is awarded annually to an individual or group whose work demonstrates an inventive and innovative approach to traditional humanities fields of study. It is named for the Founding Director of the Rhode Island Council for the Humanities.
The $2,000 prize is made possible through an endowed fund, which was established in 2001 by Council board members.
“The humanities and their not always acknowledged appeal, can spring up from a wholly unexpected source, take a happily unconventional form, and find throbbing life in a hopelessly undervalued topic. I still count on those surprises; I am hoping to find another one in the recipient of the prize.”
–Tom Roberts, Founding Director
