Reading Across Rhode Island

Rhode Island's One Book, One State community read program - this highly successful, statewide reading initiative is kicking off its 10th year!

Kids Reading Across Rhode Island

The One Book, One State reading initiative is offered in partnership with the RI Office of Library & Information Services (OLIS) is emarking upon its second year!

Letters About Literature

A national writing contest for children in grades 4 - 12, Rhode Island students join 700,000 correspondents from across the nation in writing to authors who have affected their lives.

Art of the Book

Art of the Book events focus on the craft and aethetics of books, bookmaking, and printing. Co-sponsors of the Art of the Book series have been the Providence Athenaeum, the John Russell Bartlett Society, the New England chapter of the American Printing History Association, Friends of the Library at Brown University, University of Rhode Island, and New Leaves Press.

Our Mission

The Rhode Island Center for the Book celebrates the art and heritage of reading, writing, making, and sharing books. Through a variety of programs and activities, the Center promotes a love for books among people of all ages and backgrounds across Rhode Island.
