A Cultural History of the Native Peoples of Southern New England: Our Natural World
Participants will explore New England Indian history and culture and the connection to the natural world, through viewing artifacts, listening to drumming, storytelling, and more.
Julianne Jennings (Strong Woman) is a member of the Nottoway Cheronhaka Tribe from Virginia. She has been educating children and adults on Native New England history and culture since 1995. She served as associate co-producer to the Emmy Award winning PBS Documentary, Mystic Voices: The Story of the Pequot War. Ms. Jennings is the author of several journal articles and books on Southern New England Indians and is the recipient of the James Houston Award in Anthropology. Ms. Jennings is a graduate from Rhode Island College and continues to work toward her Ph.D. in Native American Studies.
