How do you measure the value of a good book? How do you measure the value of seeing things in a new way? How do you measure the value of understanding your neighbor?
It's the difference they make in your life.
You know literature, learning, and community are things that enrich our lives and inform who we are. Rhode Island Council for the Humanities knows this too.
You can see the difference we're making.
You can see it at the Providence Police Academy where recruits are using short stories, reflection writing, and first hand research in the community to understand our diverse capital city and to better serve as peacekeepers. You can see it in our grantees' projects like Creative Cartography at New Urban Arts connected urban youth to their city by studying architecture, reading literature and creating their own sense of place. You can see it in RICH grant funded project, Rhode Island State Home and School Oral History Project at Rhode Island College. Where the untold stories of orphaned and abandoned children where uncovered, and where they were able to connect with each other.
Last year we served over 250,000 Rhode Islanders, and funded $120,000 in community projects and hosted conversations across the state on the tough issues that face us today. This the real difference RICH makes. You are part of the difference we're making.
Please give generously to allow projects like these to continue in our state.
