During her 29 years in the field of secondary education, Mary Lee Partington developed a practice in English Language Arts devoted to tradition and to innovation, a reflection of her concurrent work as a performing artist on the touring roster of the New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA). This blend of arts and humanities resulted in grant funded programs from the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, the RI Heritage Commission, as well as RI State Council on the Arts. Mary Lee designed the programs for the Blackstone River Theatre in support of the mission of both the BRT and the John H. Chafee Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor. Mary Lee will turn to her role as Artistic Director of the Blackstone River Theatre in 2007 with a focus on the BRT education program: the Heritage Arts Studio.
