Susan Berman, MLS, is an Assistant Director at the North Kingstown Free Library, where she is responsible for the program of service to adults. In this role she promotes and supports life-long learning by developing collections and services to meet the needs of adults in their roles as individuals, learners, workers, family members, and citizens. The strength that she brings to the Rhode Island Council for the Humanities is her belief in the usefulness of the humanities, her commitment to humanities programming as an integral part of public library service, and more than 20 years of experience in working with humanities scholars to bring public programs to a diverse clientele. Her professional and volunteer affiliations include the Rhode Island Library Association, the New England Library Association, the American Library Association, the Friends of the North Kingstown Free Library, the Cocumscussoc Association, the Pettaquamscutt Historical Society, The Courthouse Center for the Arts, and Emily Dickinson International Society.  She and her husband, Mark Berman, an oceanographer, are Trinity subscribers and love theater.
